Type 2 and can not keep control … help?
My doctor has me on metformin 500 mg. (1 tab 2x d), 20 mg of simvastatin (1 dy tab. For Cholestrol) and lisinopril (2.5 mg. (1 dy tab.) for BP. I took the milk from my diet (soy consumption now), no white bread or pasta (no more than pizza), 1 pkg Splenda w / cream in coffee, caffeine free Diet Coke, no beef .. switched to chicken, ground turkey, seafood, a few oat pkgs Splenda W / soy milk and walk 20 min / d. and on and on .. I stabbed at 169 after oatmeal and usually rises above 200 after meals. Last night I had chicken soup and a bowl of rice cereal w / soy and stabbed me @ 259. What am I doing wrong? No, this is a test. Thank you.
First of all, can take several months for the readings of blood sugar to drop. Secondly, you should get a dietitian or nutritionist to help you. He suggested the South Beach Diet. It teaches you the good and bad carbohydrates, gives you a list of foods to eat and not eat. It is not a trading plan and not counting calories. Begin phase two. (skip the first phase) You not have to give beef. If you eat lean cuts, you can have them. You are better off with skim milk instead of soymilk. Sign up education class in diabetes. They usually have them in hospitals, doctor could probably give information about them. Get some exercise every day, walking is a great way to help keep blood sugar under control
